Climbing the hills of Plovdiv

One of the prominent features of Plovdiv is its seven hills where I one hot day in July (at least 36 degrees – it is freaking hot in Plovdiv in the summer) decided to climb the one called Sahat Tepe (Сахат тепе). It is located very near the pedestrian street and town square. There is a bit more on Nebet Tepe on Wikipedia.

What I liked about it was that many of the rock structures were sprayed with graffiti. Some cool graffiti and others just tags. I think the local authorities have legalized or accepted this in some way or just don’t do much about it.

I think it was pretty cool and very interesting. I liked the contrast between the old rocks and the new rebellious street art.

It is also a place where people hang out on top of the rock formations and enjoy the view.

I think it could be a cool scenery for a photo shoot. At that time, I only had my mobile phone, Pixel 7, which takes some decent photos, but it would be nice to come back and take some good photos with a better camera.

I think I timed it nicely, because the sun was about to go down, so I managed to take some beautiful pictures.

Just beware that some of the paths you can follow around the hill are not for the faint of heart. There is a long way down if you don’t look where you are going.

Beautiful sunset on top off Sahat Tepe

Nice view and crazy grafitti. I was sweating like a pig on a barbeque

The hill, Sahat Tepe, was in the smack center of Plovdiv and the view was gorgeous

Bonus fact: I tried a free interpolation software, Flowframes Video Interpolator, for softening out the videos jaggedness. Also I slowed it down by a factor of 2 so you actually can see the view now. The original pans to fast. But general, the video quality is not that great and no amount of AI magic will help to get better results. So I guess it is back to the hill with better gear. Or just go back, sit and relax and enjoy the place. Because it was really beautiful.
